Those issues shouldn't happen with normal usage. If they do, An Apple Store will generally be happy to fix it free of charge. In any case though, I HIGHLY recommend getting AppleCare+ which covers two accidents. It's $99 plus tax extra, but its worth it in my opinion. I have AppleCare+ on my iPhone 4S.
